Do you have upcoming availability for locum work to help a regional community? Prescript is assisting a brand new sub-acute rehabilitation facility that’s affiliated with a tertiary referral hospital. You will be providing advice on the management of disability issues for adult inpatients.

This is a great location, with accommodation provided and travel reimbursed.

What are we looking for?

You will have General unconditional registration with AHPRA.

About the Role

Currently, the service has an 18-bed general rehabilitation ward dealing with a wide case mix of adult rehabilitation. This ranges from stroke/neurological, amputee, brain injury, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic & multiple trauma. There is extensive exposure to the Indigenous culture & opportunities for Outreach clinics.

Outpatient clinics cover prosthetics/orthotics, chronic pain & brain injury. The multidisciplinary rehabilitation service is based within the hospital campus. The consultant position supervises advanced trainees & RMOs.

The Hospital

Your new hospital currently employs 2 advanced AFRM trainees,  Rehabilitation Consultants & has a dedicated level 4 multi-disciplinary inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation service. 

The hospital is expanding its services to a new 116-bed regional hospital, 20-minutes from the major 360-bed hospital. It is currently being built & will open in 2018. Supporting a large range of specialities & junior medical officer teaching, the National Critical Care & Trauma Response Centre is also based here.

The Role

You will be providing advice on the management of disability issues for the adult inpatient population. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will manage more complex rehabilitation needs of inpatients under the guidance of the hospital’s experienced senior medical officers. 

Are you juggling academic or personal commitments? This role would be suited to those seeking experience in Rehabilitation Medicine.  

The Hospital

A brand-new state of the art facility, the hospital is a specialist centre for rehabilitation, recovery and research. It will provide sub-acute services including Rehabilitation (inpatient, outpatient, day programmes), Geriatric Evaluation and Management and Psychiatric sub-acute services. 

Affiliated with the Canberra Hospital which serves a population of 650,000 from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) and surrounding South-eastern New South Wales (NSW).

The Location

Canberra was noted as having the ‘highest quality of living worldwide’ in 2016, which is easy to believe with it’s culturally diverse nature, high-quality education, excellent restaurant and bar scene, and beautiful park-lands throughout.
