GP Obstetricians – Supportive Short-Term Locums In Quintessential NSW

Since an innovative Rural Generalist training model was implemented across Murrumbidgee in 2020, it has emerged as one of the best health services in NSW (and wider Australia) to provide locum hospital coverage.

Prescript has so far provided rural generalists across 11 of their regional and rural sites, and we consistently receive excellent feedback on the work environments, locations, remuneration and provisions to locums – we’re proud to have such a close relationship with their health services managers and wider workforce team.

Now, a relatively rare opportunity for GP Obstetricians has arisen in one of Murrumbidgee’s most charming locations – Young. This is a position usually filled by their network of returning Obstetricians and is, therefore, an excellent opportunity for you to get your foot in the door at this reputable and supportive health service.

The Position

You will be working independently with support from at least one other local GP Obstetrician, seeing maternity patients during the day and on-call for deliveries overnight. For longer locum blocks, you will complete ward rounds and clinics in addition.

Doctors must have advanced DRANZCOG and be comfortable performing caesers and D&C. This is a 5-bed level 3 maternity service.

  • GP Anaesthetist & GP Obstetrician on-call for support, plus doctors in the ED

  • Critical Care Advisory Service support and VRGS if required

  • Remote Medical Consultation Service access for patients

  • Mental Health Emergency Consultation service available

Young, located in the Young Area of Country NSW, Australia, is a picturesque town renowned for its thriving wineries and agricultural heritage. As the heart of the Hilltops Wine Region, Young offers an enchanting destination for wine enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.
