Psychiatry CMO - North West Tasmania - January to June 2024

This is an exceptional opportunity to provide continuity of care with a renowned mental health service during summer and autumn in picturesque North West Tasmania.

The Position

You'll be part of a multidisciplinary Mental Health Service committed to delivering high-quality care. You'll work in the Northwest inpatient unit (Spencer Clinic) alongside a 1.0FTE Consultant Psychiatrist and a 2.0FTE junior CMO in a 19-bed acute inpatient unit.

  • Full-time day work - may require some on-call

  • Supervision & support from Clinical Director & team leader

  • $1200 per day

  • Flights, accommodation, and rental car provided

State-wide Mental Health Services hold a prominent position as a leader and innovator within mental health. The organisation offers comprehensive services spanning mental health, alcohol and drugs, forensic mental health, and correctional primary health.

The ongoing Statewide Mental Health Service reforms have opened up exciting possibilities in various service areas, including Acute Care, First Responder, and Hospital in the Home Teams. In collaboration with the University of Tasmania, the Service has recently established the Tasmanian Centre for Mental Health Service Innovation. This centre is dedicated to enhancing and elevating mental health service offerings for individuals across all age groups in Tasmania.

Collectively, the organisation's services operate in close coordination, with a shared commitment to delivering excellence in healthcare. Their overarching goal is to achieve improved outcomes not only for patients but also for their dedicated workforce and the broader Tasmanian community.

About Jo Weaver

Having worked with many of the team members in my previous role, they recognised my skills and experience in the health field and thought that I could bring valuable knowledge and tools to the organisation. It’s a pleasure to be a part of the Prescript team.

I am a dedicated recruitment professional with an extensive background in the healthcare industry. I began my career at a sole-doctor GP practice and during my 17 years there, I helped grow the practice to nine staff members, including four doctors, four part-time receptionists, and myself. Seeking to broaden my knowledge, I then transitioned to Medical Workforce at a small rural public hospital where I enjoyed building relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff.

My experience working with hospitals and practices enables me to put myself in both health services and doctors’ shoes and truly understand their recruitment needs from their perspective.

Professionally, I am driven by contributing 100% of the time, doing the very best I can to make doctors feel happy and fulfilled in their positions. Personally, my driving force is family. I am there to support them, be involved, nurture, and watch them grow.

In my role, I am passionate about achieving good outcomes, placing doctors in vacant roles, building relationships with medical professionals, and filling organisational roster gaps with locums. In doing so, I hope to contribute to the Prescript’s growth, success, and our mission of solving the regional doctor shortage in Australia.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies, cooking, and trying new recipes. I am also an avid reader of murder/crime mysteries.
