General Medical RMO – Inpatient Ward - Whyalla Hospital

We’d love to hear from dedicated General Medical RMOs to provide support in the Inpatient Ward. With an attractive daily rate of $140 and a range of available dates from October to December, this position offers a chance to experience the vibrant coastal town of Whyalla whilst making a meaningful impact on patient care.

The Position

Whyalla Hospital & Health Services (WHHS) is a modern and well-equipped 75-bed facility, part of the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network. Here, you'll work alongside a team of healthcare professionals, managing a variety of cases and benefiting from the support of specialists in a collaborative environment. If you're looking for a rewarding locum experience in a picturesque setting, Whyalla Hospital is the perfect destination.

During your locum at Whyalla, you will be responsible for the care of medical inpatients, including low-complexity mental health patients (excluding those with their own GPs).

Work 12.5-hour shifts, both day and night shifts, including handovers (0730-2000 for morning shifts and 1930-0800 for night shifts).

You’ll manage patients in the High Dependency Unit (HDU) under the duty physician, and be part of the response team for Code Blue and MET calls.

Provide assistance to RMO doctors assigned to General inpatient care and participate in ward rounds and assist the Emergency Department as needed.

Collaborate with a team of specialists, including physicians, general and orthopaedic surgeons, and obstetricians and gynaecologists for consultations and referrals.

You’ll benefit from on-call support from physicians, anaesthetists, and obstetricians and gynaecologists over a 7-day period. You’ll also receive backup support from a General Surgeon from Monday morning to Friday 5 pm and remote on-call support from Port Augusta from Friday 5 pm to Monday morning.

About Jo Weaver

Having worked with many of the team members in my previous role, they recognised my skills and experience in the health field and thought that I could bring valuable knowledge and tools to the organisation. It’s a pleasure to be a part of the Prescript team.

I am a dedicated recruitment professional with an extensive background in the healthcare industry. I began my career at a sole-doctor GP practice and during my 17 years there, I helped grow the practice to nine staff members, including four doctors, four part-time receptionists, and myself. Seeking to broaden my knowledge, I then transitioned to Medical Workforce at a small rural public hospital where I enjoyed building relationships with clinical and non-clinical staff.

My experience working with hospitals and practices enables me to put myself in both health services and doctors’ shoes and truly understand their recruitment needs from their perspective.

Professionally, I am driven by contributing 100% of the time, doing the very best I can to make doctors feel happy and fulfilled in their positions. Personally, my driving force is family. I am there to support them, be involved, nurture, and watch them grow.

In my role, I am passionate about achieving good outcomes, placing doctors in vacant roles, building relationships with medical professionals, and filling organisational roster gaps with locums. In doing so, I hope to contribute to the Prescript’s growth, success, and our mission of solving the regional doctor shortage in Australia.

Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, growing my own veggies, cooking, and trying new recipes. I am also an avid reader of murder/crime mysteries.
