PGY4+ ED Locum | $1680/day | Registrar-Level Roles in QLD’s Bundaberg Region

Introduction

These aren’t just locum shifts — they’re your chance to step into a well-supported ED role where your presence genuinely matters. If you’re PGY4+ with Emergency Medicine experience, join the dedicated teams at Childers, Gayndah, or Gin Gin hospitals in Queensland’s Wide Bay region.

You’ll be part of tight-knit clinical teams serving regional communities that truly value their doctors. Whether you're looking for a short block or something longer, these shifts offer flexibility, meaningful work, and the kind of clinical variety that keeps things interesting — without the pressure of a metro department.

At Prescript, we don’t just place doctors. We build partnerships — and we’ll be by your side from the first conversation to your final shift.

The Position

This is a Registrar-level locum role (known in Queensland as PHO), with shifts available across three regional hospitals.

You’ll be working in Emergency Departments that operate with 10-hour shifts from 8:00am to 6:00pm, including an on-call component. Each shift is supported by two SMOs and one PHO. The departments are well-managed and offer a strong team culture, supported by clear processes and excellent nursing and allied health staff.

The hospitals — located in Childers, Gayndah, and Gin Gin — provide 24/7 emergency care alongside general medicine, outpatient services, and community health programs. They are essential to the health and wellbeing of their communities and are built for both impact and support.

Dates Available

You can choose a single week or build a longer locum run that works around your schedule. Shifts are available on the following dates:

  • Monday 30th June to Friday 4th July 2025
  • Monday 7th July to Friday 11th July 2025
  • Monday 14th July to Friday 18th July 2025
  • Monday 21st July to Friday 25th July 2025
  • Monday 28th July to Friday 1st August 2025

All shifts are available at Childers, Gayndah, and Gin Gin hospitals.

Benefits Provided

You’ll earn up to $1680 per day and benefit from total flexibility in choosing your dates. Travel, accommodation, and credentialing are fully managed by Prescript, so you can focus entirely on the medicine. As a preferred agency partner, we give you early access to high-quality roles that align with your skills and lifestyle. And most importantly, your work will have a direct impact on regional healthcare in Queensland.

How to Get There + What to Explore

Travel is simple. Most doctors fly into Bundaberg from Brisbane, followed by short road transfers to your allocated hospital — all of which Prescript will arrange. Prefer to drive? It’s a scenic 4–5 hour trip from Brisbane through regional Queensland, with plenty of opportunities to stop along the way.

When you're off duty, there's plenty to explore. You’re close to Burrum Coast National Park, the Mon Repos Turtle Centre, and beautiful coastal spots like Bargara. If you prefer slower days, spend time enjoying local markets, cafés, and heritage walks through these historic towns. It’s a great place to unwind and reconnect — while still doing important clinical work.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for doctors who are PGY4+ with recent Emergency Medicine experience. ALS2 certification is required, and you’ll need to be available for at least one full block (Monday to Friday).

Why This Role Stands Out

This isn’t a locum that leaves you feeling like a number. These are well-run departments, well-supported teams, and a daily rate that reflects your experience. If you’re looking for an opportunity that balances clinical value, lifestyle, and real-world impact — this is it.

Your Next Step

If you’re ready to line up a high-value locum in Queensland’s Wide Bay region, we’re ready to support you. From start to finish, Prescript takes care of the details — so you can step into the role with confidence.
