Locum Covid Virtual Ward Medical Officers – Queensland / Remote

The Position

With the developing Covid situation in Queensland, health services are urgently seeking assistance from Medical Officers (PGY2+ through to GP Fellows) for their newly initiated virtual Covid wards. There are multiple positions available at several public health services, with the potential to work remotely if you cannot attend in person. This is an excellent ongoing opportunity to provide relieving services in a locum capacity at this critical time, your assistance is highly appreciated!

You will be overseeing the care of Covid positive patients in home quarantine/isolation in a telehealth capacity, reviewing moderate-risk patients, monitoring for deterioration and admitting to the physical wards when necessary. Scriptwriting, patient data management, discharge letters and liaising with general practitioners will be necessary.

★ ASAP start, 2-6 week locums (or longer) whilst the pandemic remains – blocks available until July at this stage

★ Ad-hoc individual shifts considered for Brisbane based residents

★ Monday-Sunday day shifts with potential on-call responsibilities

★ Support from FACEMs, nurses and other medical officers

★ 8-10 hour shifts dependent on experience

★ Opportunity to assist in ED/Medical Wards if desired

The ideal locum doctors for these positions would be available to attend the hospitals in person and assist with admitted patients on the ward when necessary. However, remote working will be considered by some health services.
