FACEM/Rural Generalist Mount Gambier - $3000 Per Day and $300 Per Hour Recalls

We are working with Mount Gambier & District Health Service to find them a FACEM/Rural Generalist for a critical vacancy in May and also June/July dates for 2023.

This is a wonderful opportunity to earn $3000 per day plus you will be paid an hourly rate of $300 for any recalls. Being paid for recalls is rare, and most health services do not provide it; this locum won’t be available for long!

Please note: As 25% of ED presentations are paediatric in nature, a good knowledge of paediatric emergency care is essential.

The Position

The Mount Gambier Hospital is the major regional health provider for the lower, mid and upper South East Regions, with other facilities located nearby in Bordertown, Keith, Kingston, Lucindale, Millicent, Naracoorte and Penola.

You will be required to provide supervision to the RMO, intern and medical student workforce in the ED as well as take on their own clinical load.

Working as part of a team with the responsibilities which that entails, including overseeing management of all patients in the ED as well as team leading resuscitations and other emergency presentations. As 25% of MGDHS ED presentations are paediatric in nature, a good knowledge of paediatric emergency care is essential.

The ED medical staff also cover ward calls after hours, and so there is some requirement for the incumbent to be involved in this.

About Mel Houston

Hi, I'm Melissa Houston; I am one of the Senior Recruitment Partners at Prescript Recruitment, working with rural generalists and emergency medicine doctors across metro and regional Australia.

My experience covers over a decade of medical recruitment, specialising in senior doctors and solving the healthcare shortage.

I am an expert in working closely with hospitals, departments, and clinics to fill their critical vacancies. My success has included roster management, executive search projects and in-depth relationship building with locum doctors.

I love to work hard whilst injecting humour and fun into my day-to-day activities. I really enjoy meeting clients and doctors; as it stands, I think I've ticked off 100 hospitals that I have visited, and that is probably only touching the surface. I believe it's integral to matching doctors’ and clients’ needs and helps me better understand doctors' new roles.

Outside of work, I love spending time with my daughter and family. I'm a water baby at heart, so you'll often find me out on our family boat - sailing the beautiful waters of the Mornington Peninsula (where I live!).
