Locum Rural Generalist – Kerang VIC – $1,800/day – 8–15 August 2025

Introduction

Looking for a meaningful locum that lets you practise the full scope of Rural Generalist medicine — and be genuinely appreciated for it? This 8-day placement in Kerang, Victoria, blends GP clinic work with VMO on-call, offering you the chance to make a real impact in a regional community that values its doctors. It's short, rewarding, and perfectly placed.

The Position

You’ll step in to cover annual leave at Kerang Medical Clinic, working alongside a small and supportive GP team. Your week includes general practice sessions and on-call coverage at the local Urgent Care Centre, giving you a chance to flex both your primary care and acute medicine skills in a setting where your expertise is vital.

About Kerang Medical Clinic

Kerang Medical Clinic is a fully accredited, AGPAL-compliant general practice owned and operated by Kerang District Health. It serves as a training site for both ACRRM and RACGP pathways, reflecting its commitment to clinical excellence and education. The clinic is co-located with Kerang District Health, ensuring seamless integration between outpatient and inpatient care. On-site services include pathology, radiology, and visiting specialists, providing comprehensive support for both patients and practitioners.

Dates Available

  • Friday, 8 August: Clinic + VMO On-Call
  • Saturday, 9 & Sunday, 10 August: VMO On-Call Only
  • Monday–Friday, 11–15 August: Clinic only

Getting There & About Kerang

Kerang is a welcoming regional town in northern Victoria, nestled on the banks of the Loddon River and surrounded by wetlands and red gum forests. It’s known for its laid-back pace, strong local pride, and excellent birdwatching.

Kerang is easily reached from Melbourne by car — around a 3-hour drive — or via V/Line train from Southern Cross Station. For interstate locums, we’ll arrange return flights to Melbourne and onward travel to Kerang by train or hire car.

  • Rural Generalist scope across primary care, ED presentations, and community health
