At Prescript Recruitment, we place doctors in roles that matter — not just to communities, but to careers. The clinical environment is dynamic but low-acuity, designed to ease pressure on local emergency departments. You’ll work alongside experienced nurses, allied health staff and fellow GPs, with access to a wide range of integrated services on site — from mental health to oral health, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health, and more.

Locum GP – Week On, Week Off in Coastal QLD | Low-Acuity ED + Flexible HITH Model

Looking for a locum that lets you contribute to meaningful, patient-centred care — without sacrificing lifestyle? This is it.

At Prescript Recruitment, we’re dedicated to placing doctors in roles where their skills are valued and their time well spent. This flexible, week-on/week-off opportunity at Bundaberg Hospital gives you a rare chance to be part of a service that’s reshaping how healthcare is delivered in regional Queensland.

The Position

You’ll join the Hospital in the Home (HITH) team — an established, forward-thinking service that provides acute hospital-level care to patients in their own homes or community settings. Patients remain under hospital care while receiving daily visits or remote follow-up from the clinical team, reducing the need for in-hospital stays and supporting better outcomes.

Your role is primarily based in the ED’s low-acuity clinic, managing minor procedures and urgent care-style presentations. It’s a blend of general practice and hospital medicine — with possible weekend oncall, and weekday hours (0830–1730).

The HITH model is part of Queensland Health’s broader commitment to delivering flexible, high-quality care outside traditional hospital walls. It suits GPs who want to stay sharp across a range of presentations while being part of a service that is clinically respected, patient-focused, and innovating for the future.

Dates Available

  • 30 June – 4 July 2025

  • 14 – 18 July 2025

  • 28 July – 1 August 2025

  • 11 – 15 August 2025

  • 22 – 29 September 2025

  • 6 – 10 October 2025

  • 20 – 24 October 2025

  • 3 – 7 November 2025

Benefits Provided

  • $1,950 per day – payroll with salary packaging or PTY Ltd invoicing available (paid weekly)

  • Travel covered – flights or mileage up to $1,000

  • Accommodation & car – up to $150/day (plus one travel day)

  • Car hire only – $60/day when accommodation is arranged separately

  • Prescript concierge support – we manage your credentialing, logistics and onboarding from start to finish

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t just a locum — it’s a step into a future-facing model of care that’s already delivering results. Bundaberg’s HITH program gives patients hospital-level care at home, freeing up hospital beds and empowering patient recovery in familiar settings. And it gives you, as a GP, the chance to practise across ED-adjacent urgent care with the support of an efficient, collaborative hospital team.

Bundaberg itself offers more than just sunshine — it’s a gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef with national parks, friendly locals, and an easy-going lifestyle that’s hard to beat.

What We’re Looking For

  • FRACGP (or equivalent)

  • General practice background with confidence in urgent care and minor procedures

  • AHPRA specialist registration
