The Position

Looking to apply your ED skills whilst enjoying the sunny coast of WA? Prescript needs your help with urgent locum vacancies in the busy ED at Geraldton Hospital. There’s an ongoing requirement from the middle of October and locum contracts of up to six months available. Come and enjoy the best time of year to visit Coastal WA!

This position would suit non-specialists in emergency medicine able to work independently without supervision, OR General Practitioners with extensive ED training and experience.

★ 10-hour shifts – mornings, afternoons or nights

★ Well supported department, you’ll have 2 FACEMs and 4 SMOs on shift with you during the day, with FACEM on-call support overnight

★ 8-10 shifts per fortnight (or more if desired)

★ Excellent locum rate; increased for the upcoming critical period

★ Average temperature is 30 degrees and dry over the summer months

You can fly to Geraldton from Perth twice daily during the week and once per day over the weekend. Alternatively, you might choose the 4.5-hour drive, combining your locum with a road trip along the Indian Ocean Drive – immersing yourself in the abundance of scenery and uninterrupted views.

*Locums from hotspot locations are still encouraged to enquire – we can secure dates for when borders are open or can discuss paid quarantine (whilst restrictions are in place) for locums who can offer long blocks*

➞ Choose blocks of two weeks or longer from this date (longer preferred for interstate locums). Or plan an extended stay with time off permitted to travel the region

Who We’re Looking For

➞ PGY6+ with three years of Emergency Medicine training

OR

➞ FRACGP/FACRRM with advanced Emergency Medicine experience

Doctors comfortable working around a roster, including some nights and weekend work

General or Specialist AHPRA Registration

Australian citizen or permanent resident, NZ citizen, or relevant work visa

WA (or very low-risk state) based doctors are preferred for immediate gaps – interstate locums are encouraged to provide their availability for dates later in the year.
