At Prescript, we place doctors where they’re needed most — and where they’ll thrive.
This is one of those opportunities: a rewarding locum role in the heart of South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, where your clinical skills will be valued, your contribution will be visible, and your downtime will be spent by the sea.
Port Lincoln Hospital is well-organised and well-supported, and you’ll be backed by a Consultant Physician and a friendly, capable clinical team. We’ll take care of all the logistics — so you can focus on delivering great care and enjoying everything this unique coastal community has to offer.
The Position
We’re seeking a GP or Rural Generalist (FACRRM or FRACGP) to support general medicine wards at Port Lincoln Hospital.
You’ll be rostered alongside another senior doctor (0800–2000, where applicable), with additional Consultant support during business hours and on-call overnight. This is a senior post with responsibility for supervising junior doctors — ideal for those with experience in hospital-based general medicine.
Please note: Physicians are not accepted for this role.

Where You'll Be – Port Lincoln, South Australia
Port Lincoln sits on the southern tip of the Eyre Peninsula — a laid-back coastal town known for its fresh seafood, rugged beaches, and sense of space. It’s often called Australia’s seafood capital, and for good reason: the town is home to the country’s largest commercial fishing fleet, and the local fare is exceptional.
Outside of work, you can swim with sea lions, take a seafood tour, explore the national park, or simply enjoy the ocean views from a local café.
Getting there is easy:
Fly direct from Adelaide to Port Lincoln – 50-minute flight, several departures daily
Prescript covers your return flights, airport transfers, and car hire, so your travel is smooth from start to finish
What We’re Looking For
Current Fellowship with FRACGP or ACRRM
Proven hospital-based General Medicine experience
Current ALS2 or equivalent (e.g., RESP)
Confidence supervising junior doctors
Sunrise EMR training is highly desirable
AHPRA Specialist Registration
Why This Role Is in High Demand
High-paying, coastal roles in well-supported hospitals don’t stay available for long — especially when they fall during April and July school holidays. Port Lincoln is a standout location, offering the ideal mix of professional reward and personal escape.
