FACEM or Rural Generalist Locum | HITH & STREAM | Hervey Bay, QLD

Daytime shifts only. No on-call. Impactful, lower-acuity care in a place that feels like a holiday.

At Prescript Recruitment, we help doctors step into roles where their work truly matters — to the community, to the hospital, and to them.

Right now, we’re working with Hervey Bay Hospital to place experienced FACEMs and Rural Generalists (FRACGP/FACRRM) into a unique integrated care service that reduces ED pressure and improves patient flow. It's a perfect opportunity for those seeking meaningful medicine without the intensity of acute ED work. Add in the laid-back charm of Hervey Bay, and this becomes more than just another locum — it’s a role with real impact in a stunning setting.

The Position

This is a rare, well-supported opportunity to practise broad, lower-acuity medicine within two key services:

  • HITH (Hospital in the Home): Deliver hospital-level care to patients in their homes — promoting early discharge, improving comfort, and easing system pressure.

  • STREAM: Provide timely, community-based support that prevents unnecessary ED admissions.

You’ll be working as part of a small, collaborative team alongside PHOs and experienced nursing staff. These are daytime-only roles, with no on-call, offering excellent work-life balance.

Roster

  • STREAM: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30

  • HITH: 7 days, 07:00–17:30

Dates Available

2 June – 27 June 2025
Partial availability may be considered — speak to us about your preferences.

Benefits Provided

  • FACEM rate: $245/hour (based on 8-hour day with 0.5hr unpaid lunch)

  • FRACGP/FACRRM rate: $217/hour (same structure)

  • Flights, car hire, and accommodation covered

  • Full credentialing and onboarding support from your Prescript team

Why Hervey Bay?

  • Whale watching (seasonal)

  • 17km Esplanade for walking, swimming or cycling

  • Mild winter climate and oceanfront cafés

  • A warm, welcoming regional community
