Locum GP – Week On / Off in Coastal QLD | Low-Acuity ED + Flexible HITH Model - New Dates

Are you looking for a locum that lets you contribute to meaningful, patient-centred care without sacrificing your lifestyle? This is it.

At Prescript Recruitment, we’re dedicated to placing doctors in roles where their skills are valued and their time well spent. This flexible, week-on/week-off opportunity at Bundaberg Hospital gives you a rare chance to be part of a service reshaping how healthcare is delivered in regional Queensland.

The Position

You’ll join the Hospital in the Home (HITH) team, an established, forward-thinking service that provides acute hospital-level care to patients in their homes or community settings. Patients remain under hospital care while receiving daily visits or remote follow-up from the clinical team, reducing the need for in-hospital stays and supporting better outcomes.

Your role is primarily in the ED’s low-acuity clinic, managing minor procedures and urgent care-style presentations. It’s a blend of general practice and hospital medicine, with possible weekend on-call, and weekday hours (0830–1730).

The HITH model is part of Queensland Health’s commitment to delivering flexible, high-quality care outside traditional hospital walls. It suits GPs who want to stay sharp across a range of presentations while being part of a clinically respected, patient-focused service, and innovating for the future.

  • Car hire only – $60/day when accommodation is arranged separately

  • Prescript concierge support – we manage your credentialing, logistics and onboarding from start to finish

Why This Role Matters

This isn’t just a locum — it’s a step into a future-facing care model already delivering results. Bundaberg’s HITH program gives patients hospital-level care at home, frees up hospital beds, and empowers patient recovery in familiar settings. It also gives you, as a GP, the chance to practise across ED-adjacent urgent care with the support of an efficient, collaborative hospital team.

Bundaberg offers more than sunshine—it’s a gateway to the Southern Great Barrier Reef, with national parks, friendly locals, and an easy-going lifestyle that’s hard to beat.
