The Position

You’ll take the lead in the Emergency Department as SMO In-Charge, supported by a collaborative team and a strong infrastructure. The role also includes general ward responsibilities—ideal for a confident, well-rounded ED SMO.

Facility Overview

  • 28-bed hospital with ED, inpatient ward, and OT

  • 12–25 ED presentations per 24-hour period

  • 12-hour shifts: 07:00–19:00 or 19:00–07:00

ED Setup Includes:

  • 2 resus beds with Critical Camera

  • Dedicated mental health safe room

  • Paediatric and adult consult rooms

Support On Site:

  • 2 ED RNs per shift, with additional on-call nurses available

  • GP Anaesthetist on site

  • Transitional Nurse Practitioner support

  • Second AMO on call

  • Imaging (X-ray/CT) and pathology services on call

At Mona Vale Urgent Care Centre, you’ll be part of a well-supported, high-performing team managing a steady flow of lower-acuity presentations. With flexible shifts available from May through July, you can lock in great rates while enjoying a more relaxed pace—just 45 minutes from the Sydney CBD.

The Position

Role: ED Senior Registrar / ED SMO
Location: Mona Vale Urgent Care Centre, Northern Beaches, NSW
Hourly Rate: $130 – $180 (up to $1,800 per shift)

You’ll work in a well-resourced centre with a predictable roster and strong collegial support. Shift structure includes:

  • Day: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM

  • Evening: 12:30 PM – 10:30 PM

  • Night: Fully covered by two rostered doctors

The UCC sees around 65–70 patients per day. Presentations include:

  • Minor trauma, sprains, fractures

  • Mild asthma, chest infections, skin conditions

  • Wound reviews, lacerations, minor burns

  • Abdominal discomfort, headaches, infections

High-acuity cases are referred directly to Mona Vale Hospital ED.
