The Position

We are seeking a FACEM, FACRRM, or experienced ED GP for a locum at Maclean District Hospital from 18th to 25th July 2025. You will serve as the In-Charge ED doctor during afternoon-evening shifts (12:30–22:00), supported by a JMO until 16:30 each day. The role offers:

  • No night shifts or on-call duties

  • One day off mid-week (Thursday 24th July)

  • A manageable patient load in a Level 3 rural hospital

The emergency department handles approximately 13,400 presentations annually, with a focus on timely care—83.2% of patients commence treatment on time, surpassing the state average for similar hospitals .

  • Start: Friday 18th July 2025 (12:30 start)

  • End: Friday 25th July 2025 (22:00 finish)

  • Roster: 12:30–22:00 daily

  • Day Off: Thursday 24th July 2025

The Position

This is a rare, well-supported opportunity to practise broad, lower-acuity medicine within two key services:

  • HITH (Hospital in the Home): Deliver hospital-level care to patients in their homes — promoting early discharge, improving comfort, and easing system pressure.

  • STREAM: Provide timely, community-based support that prevents unnecessary ED admissions.

You’ll be working as part of a small, collaborative team alongside PHOs and experienced nursing staff. These are daytime-only roles, with no on-call, offering excellent work-life balance.

Roster

  • STREAM: Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:30

  • HITH: 7 days, 07:00–17:30

FACEM Locum in Burnie, Tasmania - High-Impact Emergency Medicine with Coastal Calm

At Prescript, we work with doctors who want to do more than just fill a shift. This is a locum opportunity where your clinical skills will have a direct impact—supporting a regional hospital that plays a vital role in its community, while giving you time and space to recharge by the coast.

We’re currently seeking a FACEM for flexible locum work at North West Regional Hospital in Burnie, Tasmania. Whether you’re looking for a quick two-day block or something longer, we’ll help you find the right fit—so you can focus on what matters most.

The Position

Burnie’s Emergency Department is part of a modern, 160-bed regional hospital that services Tasmania’s North West region and King Island. The ED team manages a wide range of presentations—from resus and trauma through to medical and minor injuries—with the support of solid infrastructure and well-established systems.

You’ll be joining a department that’s appropriately staffed and well run. Day shifts are supported by four FACEMs, with five to six ED Registrars or CMOs rostered across the 24-hour cycle. You’ll work alongside a collaborative team, with the right level of responsibility and support.

Dates Available

Shifts are available from 27 April to 24 May 2025, with a minimum booking of two to three shifts.

We can also help you identify blocks of shifts that allow time off to explore the region between clinical work.

Available shift times include:

  • 07:30 – 17:00 (standard or MOIC)

  • 14:00 – 23:30

  • 15:30 – 01:00 (MOIC) + on-call to 07:30 the following morning

What’s Included

We provide end-to-end support, with everything handled on your behalf:

  • $3,500 per day for standard shifts
